3.1.17 Wolfgang Kaufmann's season starts early, with the 24h of Dubai

Third participation with Bovi Motorsport's spectacular Brokernet Silversting

Only a few days into this new year, German motor racing professional Wolfgang Kaufmann is getting his 2017 season under way. At the Dubai Autodrome (United Arab Emirates), promoter Creventic's 24h Series has its first event. On the 5.39 km circuit, the competitors will have to go twice round the clock - it is a race that has brought Kaufmann much success in previous years.

With six participations, he has an impressive tally of results to his name: three class victories, one 3rd place in class, as well as one overall podium finish, with a 2nd place.

For his seventh try at the Dubai 24, Kaufmann has a very special car at his disposal. For Bovi Motorsport, he will drive the Brokernet Silversting. The Hungarian team's self-built racecar holds happy memories for Kaufmann who was part of the class winning efforts in 2010 and 2011. “Mechanically, it is a Porsche 997; so the mechanics are tried and proven”, Kaufmann says, “a sequential gearbox and a 3.8 lnormally aspirated engine make driving this car a lot of fun.”

The team's driver line-up for 2017 is one of great variety. Along with Kaufmann, the car will be driven by professional racer Jaap van Lagen of the Netherlands, Denmark's Hein obo Frederiksen, and Bovi Motorsports' team principal Kalman Bodis. In the SP2 class, they will be up against strong opposition; but their objective is clear:
“Of course we are once again aiming for the class win”, Kaufmann states with confidence, “perhaps some cars are faster over a flying lap, but a 24 hour race has its own rules.”

The on-track action will commence on Saturday, January 12, with the free practice and qualifying sessions. The 24 hour race will begin on Friday, January 13, at 1400hrs local time (1100 CET), and will be broadcast live on Motors TV and www.24hseries.com
