2.07.12 The successful streak continues

A little over a month after their class win in the strongly contested ADAC 24 hour race on the Nürburgring, Wolfgang Kaufmann and his colleagues Dieter Schornstein and Florian Fricke had the fourth round of the Nürburgring endurance championship on their agenda.

The Porsche specialist from Molsberg again drove the Kremer Racing Porsche 997 GT3 KR with which he had already clinched three podium results this season for the team from Cologne.

In spite of an engine management issue in timed practice, the streak of successes continued in the fourth race of the season: “the mechanics had to sort out some problems with the electronics, so we didn't have enough time to put in a good lap”, Kaufmann explains the lack of laps turned during practice.

“Come racetime, our 997 GT3 KR was its usual trouble-free self from the beginning, and we could stay among the lead group in the SP7 class throughout the race, After four hours of racing, we were less than half a lap short of winning the class. The Porsche Kremer Racing boys have again done good work. Our modified pit stop strategy was very successful. I came into the Kremer pits for refuelling after four laps, and then set out for a regular stint. My 1 ½ stints in the car were really cool.”

With four podium finishes, Wolfgang Kaufmann is now the highest placed SP7 driver in the overall points standings of the Endurance Championship. The next round, the 52nd ADAC Reinoldus Langstreckenrennen, takes place on July 7, 2012.
