In an anniversary year for the venerable Porsche team, the endurance classic on the Nürburgring Nordschleife is the high point.

2nd place at the season opener in early April was followed up with another 2nd place in the SP7 class at the 27th DMV 4-Stunden-Rennen

This second round of the endurance championship on the Nürburgring was a carbon copy of the first race. Changeable weather and another race stoppage made led to its termination before the scheduled distance. In practice, Wolfgang Kaufmann and his team mate Dieter Schornstein from Aachen lapped the Ring six times and put the Porsche 997 KR on a promising grid position among the almost 200 strong field of starters. Kaufmann was happy with an early part of the race that went according to plan: "This weekend, we had absolutely no trouble with the Porsche prepared and run by Team Kremer Racing. Our Yokohama tyres also worked very well, and our confidence for the 24 hour race is building."

Eight laps into the race, Dieter Schornstein got behind the wheel of the Porsche and eventually handed the car back to Kaufmann for the final stint: "We were motoring along really well and were leading our class at the time the race was halted for accidents and a hailstorm. Unfortunately, the standings from the penultimate lap are taken as the end result in such an event, where we were still in 2nd place in the SP7 class."

Next weekend, Wolfgang Kaufmann will travel from the Eifel to the Hockenheimring. Again for Kremer Racing, the man from Molsberg will drive a Ford Escort RS 1600 in the season opener of the Youngtimer Trophy. The Youngtimer Trophy is a series for race cars of the 1966-1988 model years.
