The man from Molsberg raced in the first round of the 2012 Youngtimer Trophy; his weapon of choice for the weekend was a Ford Escort RS1600. "It was really amazing, no aerodynamics, no electronics, pure racing", Kaufmann summed up his experience driving one of the most famous touring cars onf the 1970s. Alongside Kaufmann's car, Kremer Racing also had another Ford Escort for Dieter Dörmann in the race.

Wolfgang Kaufmann put the Castrol Racing Escort on pole position of the 52 car field, Dieter Dörmann completed the good qualifying result for Kremer Racing with P3 on the grid. Kaufmann and his Escort managed to assert their position at the head of the pack for the duration of the race, and after an hour of racing crossed the line victorious, a good minute ahead of the competition. "Special thanks must go to Dieter Dörmann and the whole Team Porsche Kremer Racing for their brilliant performance. The team has again shown that it can perfectly prepare and successfully campaign all racecars, not just Porsches."

The points scoring system puts Kaufmann in 5th position in the overall standings, as the points scored reflect the number of entrants in the individual classes.

Next weekend, Wolfgang Kaufmann and Kremer Racing have the third round of the Nürburgring endurance championship on their schedule, this time again with the Porsche 997 GT3 KR.
