“We knew beforehand, that we would never be able to get anything better than second place against the works supported BMW Z4 GT3 of the Schubert team”, said Kaufmann about his objective.

As in the 24h of Dubai and the 12h of Budapest, Kaufmann raced the Brokernet Silver Sting, a car built by Hungarian Kalman Bodis using Porsche components. Under the Bovi Motorsport entry, Kaufmann shared the GT Sportscar with Netherland's van Lagen and the Hungarians Bodis and Racz.

In qualifying, the team was going for pole position for a while, but in the end had to settle for 3rd place on the grid.

Unusual rainy weather greeted the 24hr competitors in the Barcelona region on Saturday. Fighting for the lead, starting driver Racz unfortunately slid off the track and into the gravel trap after 2 hours. The subsequent swap of the front splitter threw the team back to 50th position.

During the night, Wolfgang Kaufmann and the team worked its way back to 2nd place behind the safely leading BMW when on Sunday morning, they had to make an extra stop to replace the cable in the sequential gearbox. “This time we caught a lucky break”, Kaufmann describes the final phase of the race, “the added repair work set us back to 3rd position, our rivals for 2nd place then had trouble themselves so we could move back to our deserved result.”

“The Bovi Motorsport team prepared the Brokernet Silver Sting perfectly for the 24h competition, and did a great job during the race. We are more than happy with the result, we have achieved the best possible result and now will try to compete successfully together in the 24h of Dubai in January.”
